NEED OF VERTICAL DEVELOPMENT

The Indian Cities especially those suffering from acute Land shortage like Trivandrum should be exempted from the laws favoring horizontal development. Horizontal development is a curse to such cites. Horizontal development takes up an awful lot of land for development of commercial as well as residential spaces. It earns a poor land utilization value and huge depletion in green cover. It will create sprawling tiny houses , narrow streets , busy roads etc which makes it very hard to compete with other international cities to tackle global warming.
where as in vertical development it takes up very little land when compared to horizontal sprawl. Chances are more for constructing green and efficient buildings. And its a bit more easier to tackle global warming as it leaves the chances for more green cover. It is also very helpful in ensuring maximum land utilization. For an example a 50 storied medium sized high rise residential structure can support more than 500 apartments, and you can see that 500 families are living in this very same building. But if it was in the case of horizontal sprawl, these 500 families would construct independent villas which would take away an awful lot of land and hence you can see the disappearance in green cover. Hence lot of land is unnecessarily wasted. vertical development confines the people within the city limits which could increase chances of protecting the green suburbs. This could maximize the use mass transportation more efficiently.
So then let us think about this fact, and let us ,make more chances of a greener India with greener cities and not an Indian with coloured concrete blocks.

Destroying a Wonderful Sport

Only a few cities in India has the racing culture. Street racing is an uncommon sport in India. Only a few cities have such young enthusiasts. in the city of Trivandrum street racing was a popular sport. Youngsters used to race each Saturday's through the wide stretches of the city roads with super bikes. It was fast gaining popularity until the DYFI activists came with agitation against this sport. Their answer for the agitation was " The sport is destroying the future of the productive youth".These guy's was supported by the Govt. and within a week speed cam's were put to catch racing drivers.
It is so unfair that they did such a thing. They should first look at themselves before trying to make others good. The members of DYFI, SFI etc in the colleges are widely engaged in riots and strikes. One good example is Ohm Prakash , a boy who secured 80% plus in +2 and one of the brightest students in the university at his time in now in prison alleged guilty for his presence in a planned murder.he was made to have such a situation by SFI. Are these parties destroying the youth??????????
All of us should look into this terrible Gunda Raj developing in the city aided by the political parties. In the real sense the political parties youth federations are destroying the youth of India.
The sport of street racing should be encouraged like in America and Japan. It actually helps in exposing the name of the city in the global arena. We have a cricket club, a foot ball club, a hockey club , a flying club etc in the city then why not a racing club???????? And like others it cam be controlled either by Govt. or city Corporation or by both Govt. and Private people. A racing track could be build which could move racing from busy streets to more safer tracks. Also it could be the gate way for the Trivandrum Grand pix in the future.
Think about it .......... At least once. Please........

The Most Promising Future City Of India

Even though its sparsely developed the city of Trivandrum ( Thiruvananthapuram ) , in the extreme south of India is a city that promises much more than you can imagine. The city is blessed by nature with a natural port site ( Vizhinjam Port ) which lies a few miles from the international shipping channel. With 24 to 27 mts of depth readily available within 100mts from shore its a boon to the business sector as it can support the largest ships that ever set sail in the world. Also lying under the international air route for many countries to the gulf the potential for the airline stop point for refueling and for repairs is also exposed. with minimal infrastructure development to support the business sector this city could also be easily made into an export hub. So the potential of the first World City of India is also widely exposed. I wish the government of Kerala takes adequate steps to harness the immense potential of this city.
